Hangin' out, on the street!
Same old thing, we did last week!
So the gang's all here and the festival part didn't start yesterday until the very end and what happened then was just prep work. The festive part kicks off Thursday.
First came the arrivals, in this case Mike Cope, our hostess and driver Anne Morse Hambrock, Rick Stromoski and Lincoln Peirce, at the Milwaukee Brewhouse in the airport, waiting for Todd Clark to arrive.
And it's not the same old thing we did last week, and, in fact, several of us were meeting in three dimensions for the first time, which is always fun, particularly when you've had a lively on-line acquaintanceship, sometimes for a couple of years or more.
But, as said, it wasn't Festival time yet, so, while Anne went back to the airport for more people, the early birds got on a pair of sailboats and went to sea, or, in this case, to Great Lake.
Cap'n John Hambrock actually has a boat, but has been too busy this summer to even get it into the water, so he rounded up a couple of volunteers to host us on their craft.
But they let him drive.
Here's the other boat. You'll have to wait for Mike Cope's pictures to get a closer look.
And here's a completely different boat, which is mostly an excuse to post a picture of John and his daughter Kate. After a day on airplanes, a few hours on boats was a welcome change.
Then back to the house. Terri Libenson, Tom Racine, Denis Kitchen, Scott Stantis, Greg Cravens, Jeff Keane and some spouses had arrived, as had a stack of pizzas, and, once the pizzas were gone, there was a coffeetable and some bricks to be signed and doodled to add to the collection.
There was also a chair to be doodled and signed for the auction, which is on-going but is about to get really lively.
I'm not sure how much is on-line and how much is in-person, but the chair, as you see, is a work in progress. Stay tuned.
Then the "business" portion, the signing of various posters and other ephemera for Indiegogo backers and other Friends of the Festival.
Looking forward to your posts, Mike. I'll be at Rick's event tomorrow night, hope to see you then.
