Boy, if only it were.
The New Adventures of Queen Victoria draws upon the Book of Konigsberg to refute the muddled preaching of Pat Robertson.
Of course, Pat Robertson has long been gold for political cartoonists. Here's a piece I did in 2005, when I was producing educational features for the paper and good old Pat was advocating political assassination. Kevin Siers and Stuart Carlson both got in some pretty good licks, and my recollection is that I had plenty of other cartoons on the topic from which to choose that week, too. (As always, you can click on the image for a larger version)
(Political assassination, I will note, is not an unknown tactic in more fraught confrontations, but a preacher who twists the Word of God and advocates murder to people who might actually do it risks finding himself on the so-shall-ye-reap end of the deal in this world as well as the next.)
In any case, there are people all over declaring "Thus saith the Lord" when He has not spoken, and it would indeed be nice if we could shut them up as readily as Pab Sungenis suggests.
for those of you not familiar with the Book of Konigsberg, and those who simply love to hear the story, here is the passage of Scripture being quoted in today's comic:
Excellent catch, sir.
